Any person or company who engages in the United States in the business of either manufacturing or exporting defense articles or furnishing defense services is required to register with the U.S. Dept of State The Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC). Any person or company who intends to export or to import a defense article must obtain the approval from the DDTC prior to the export or import, unless the export or import qualifies for an exemption.
